The Mass Communication Department will award academic/management scholarships and endowed scholarships for academic year 2011-2012 to deserving Mass Communication students.
Academic scholarships will be awarded to new fulltime freshmen that have met the following criteria:
- Declared NGU Major in either Media Ministry, Broadcast Media or Print Media
- 3.5 or higher High School GPA
- Minimum SAT combined score of 1100 or ACT score of 22
- Minimum 250-word essay on the topic of “What I Expect to Contribute to the Mass Communication Profession”
- Letter of recommendation from a high school media adviser or teacher
Academic scholarships to continuing or transfer fulltime Mass Communication majors will be awarded to those students who have met the following criteria:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the end of the spring semester
- Minimum major GPA of 3.0 at the end of the spring semester
- Minimum 250-word essay on the topic of “How I Will Present a Christian Worldview through the Mass Communication Profession”
- Letter of recommendation from a professor outside the department
Editorial and management scholarships are awarded to students accepted for the following positions:
- Aurora Editor
- Skyliner Editor
- Publications Advertising Manager
- The Vision Station Manager
- WNGR Station Manager
- Department Webmaster
- Various other positions as determined by availability, qualifications and financial need.
A letter of application including plans for next year for any of the above positions and all other materials for academic scholarships are due to Dr. Hagin (lahagin@ngu.edu) by April 29, 2011.
