Lara Eller moved to South Carolina in 2006 from West Virginia. She received her B.A. in English with a writing emphasis from Concord College (now Concord University) in Athens, West Virginia. Directly after graduating from Concord she moved to Morgantown, West Virginia to pursue a M.S. in Journalism. She graduated from West Virginia University’s Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism in May 2005.
During her time at WVU, she worked on the West Virginia Veterans History project in alliance with the Library of Congress and helped collect oral histories from local World War II and Vietnam War veterans. Lara traveled to Washington, DC in 2004 to continue her work and help the Library collect more stories during the World War II memorial dedication weekend.
During her second year of graduate work, Lara worked with a visiting professor as a teaching assistant. She worked with students in Beat Reporting, Feature Writing, and History of Journalism classes. Her supervisor, George Esper, was a legendary journalist who covered the Vietnam War from start to finish. She was selected to assist Dr Esper for the remainder of her studies at WVU.
Lara is responsible for teaching graphic design and writing. She is also the advisor of the online edition of the university newspaper, The Skyliner.
