Shurajit Gopal, fondly named “Gopal” by his students, came to North Greenville in 2001 and now teaches a variety of classes involving all aspects of Mass Communication.
He received both a B.A. in Public Relations and a M.A. in Communications from the University of Madras in India. Gopal is a Fulbright Fellow in Communication Technology and was awarded the Fulbright Fellowship in 1988-89 when he had his orientation at the University of Texas at Austin; did his advanced courses in Radio, TV and Film at the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University; and worked with the Worldwide English Division of the Voice of America (VOA) Radio at the State Department in Washington, D.C. When he takes time out from teaching and helping students, Gopal is doing research to obtain his doctoral degree.
Gopal has also been the Head of the Internet Development Division at Accel Ltd. Gopal is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer as well as a Microsoft Certified Internet Specialist, in addition to his certifications in IBM AS/400, Sun Solaris Unix, Linux, Informix RDBMS and Oracle RDBMS.
Gopal is also looked upon by his colleagues and friends as a technological expert in computer hardware and software as well as in multimedia satellite technology.
Gopal has been helping many churches in the Carolinas to develop their media ministries. He helps them install their equipment and trains the church staff in the various aspects of the media ministry.
Gopal teaches the Broadcast Media classes – everything from basic Media Technology to advanced Video Producing and Directing. He also teaches a few Indian languages like Hindi, Tamil and Telugu to missionaries who have a heart for India.
